Module Indicative Content
This module will guide students through the processes of generating, creating and publishing celebrity features across a range of media. They will develop an understanding of the role celebrity features play in journalism and the wider media and the value of this content compared to more traditional subject coverage. Students will be required to think about how features are structured and pitched and develop the skills required to operate professionally in this domain. They will consider and learn to evaluate the appropriateness of different structures of celebrity feature copy for a range of media platforms including TV, radio, print, the web and mobile technologies. Overall the module will provide students with the ability to analyse, develop, produce, pitch and publish celebrity feature material to professional standards across the media.
Module Learning Strategies
This module is delivered in one teaching block.
There will be weekly two-hour workshops which aim to give students the knowledge and skills necessary to understand, create, develop and refine celebrity-based features in a modern media environment.
Workshops will normally involve short tutor-led discussions/presentations at the start, followed by student-led practical exercises, both individually and as teams, with group and tutor feedback offered during and on completion of practical elements.
There will also be an opportunity for students to engage in one-to-one tutorials to assess their progress and areas for improvement.
