Module Additional Assessemnt Details
The assessment will allow students to discuss a singular or multiple theme of the module, addressing (LOS 1,2,3, 4) Additional Assessment Details (include formative feedback / assessment): An assessment brief will be provided during the module. Guidance will be provided via Blackboard and verbally in-class.


Module Indicative Content
Areas include: History of the sports media: globalisation; news values; ownership, censorship and control; commodification; in-house sports media; theories of objectivity; ethics; representations of race and gender in sport; technological changes in sports media.
Module Learning Strategies
Lectures and seminars - 11 x one hour lectures, 11 x one hour seminars, personal tutorials [4 hours] plus independent learning (26 hours)

Lectures will outline and assess relevant theoretical approaches – seminars will explore in-depth the relationship between theoretical approaches and empirical practice.

Total student commitment – 150 hours
