Students are required to take part in a three week work placement (120 hours) minimum within the professional environment of Broadcast Journalism . This is ideally to be undertaken during the summer vacation between level I and H., however due to the highly competitive nature of the industry students may find it easier to be flexible with the broadcast industry and fit their work placement in around their other study commitments during their final year. Students will be required to produce CVs and covering letters and embark on finding their placements themselves. Students will try to use basic reporting skills of researching, writing, presentation, digital editing to gather information, assemble and produce stories for broadcast according to the brief given to you your news editor or assigned person you are working to. Students will be expected to initiate their own story ideas and use and improve their knowledge to the full.
