Module Details
Module Learning Strategies
Newsday workshops every week with preparation and research of original news material outside of workshop. Feedback sessions to be given at the end of each Newsday, and one-to-one tutorials to be held as and when appropriate
Module Indicative Content
Students will work in news teams to devise, source and produce original stories across a broad range of areas (news, sports, entertainments, features etc.) and present suitable articles of a professional standard for publication to a daily deadline. Students will research, gather, interview for and source original story ideas for their particular subject area (eg. council, crime, sport, ents) prior to and on the morning of each Newsday for discussion in conference and produce these to deadline. Non-reporting students will lead reporting teams by making key editorial decisions, coordinate story coverage, edit copy and picture material and ensure stories and images are uploaded to StaffsLive online news service and published to deadline to a professional standard.
