Portfolio of content – to include review and lifestyle journalism appropriate for a student-specified publication or publications. 3500 words including a 500 words critical reflection – 100%.
Learning Outcomes 1-6
INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module is designed to allow students to appreciate review and lifestyle journalism and equips students with the capabilities to replicate content to industry standards. They will gain an understanding of markets for such work and how to address them as both freelancers and employees. Examples of review and lifestyle journalism from newspapers, magazines, websites, radio and TV will be analysed.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
There will be 11 x 2-hour workshops, which will focus on the key concepts, skills and techniques in producing industry-standard content.
Independent study time will allow students to develop their knowledge and understanding of the magazine market to inform analysis and production of quality content.
