Module Details
Module Indicative Content
This module will run in both Semester 1 and Semester 2. You will be introduced to Sources of Law, including the Legislative Process and Influences on Parliament, Delegated Legislation, Statutory Interpretation, Judicial Precedent and European Law. You will also cover areas of dispute-solving including the civil and criminal courts and alternative forms of dispute resolution, lay participation in delivering criminal justice, the judiciary and financing advice and representation.
Module Additional Assessment Details
All Learning Outcomes will be assessed by :

- Essay of 1500 words maximum (to be completed in your own time) 50%
- Advocacy 10 minute Oral Assessment 50%
Module Learning Strategies
These Learning Strategies will occupy your time. There are 24 weeks of normal classes including two reading weeks. Lectures provide a basic framework of concepts and principles. Classes will also include interactive learning activities such as group discussion, presentations, tests, video, web-based activities and written formative and summative assessments.
