Module Details
Module Indicative Content
This module deals with the law relating to transactions involving the transfer of property in goods. This is well suited to those intending to work in a trading environment.
- The main areas covered are the sale of goods and negotiating contract generally.
Module Additional Assessment Details
An Assignment, 3000 words, weighted at 100%, which will assess Learning Outcomes 1 - 6.

The Assignment question will relate to a problem scenario.

Where a student also takes 'Consumer Protection' in the same academic year, an overall mark of 35% - 39% in one of these modules may be compensated by the other module, provided the average mark for the two modules is at least 40%.
Module Learning Strategies
WHOLE GROUP SESSIONS - A series of lectures is used to disseminate general information and to provide an overview of the topics studied in detail and discussed in tutorials. 2 HOURS PER WEEK FOR 9 WEEKS = 18

SMALL GROUP SESSIONS - Used to explore particular aspects of the Law of sale and to develop problem-solving skills. The analysis of problem questions may be carried out using a variety of methods; debate, mini-moot, pyramiding, unseen problem questions, and student and tutor led sessions. 4 HOURS SEMESTER 2.

MOOT - to carry out preliminary research and consideration of the assessment problem question. Students are divided into groups of approximately 8 and will meet to organise themselves into a team to represent the plaintiff of defendant in the scenario provided. Once organised the students carry our independent research into one aspect of the team's claim/defence. The group then reconvenes for final preparation and co-ordination for their presentation in a moot. The moot lasts for up to 3 HOURS to include both the presentations of opposing teams and the short judgement of masters students that act as the judges. The study time outside of the moot itself is to be taken from the directed study time of the students quantified below.

INDEPENDENT STUDY - this will consist essentially of research into and preparation for the work to be undertaken in tutorials and the moot. Students are also encouraged to use this time to prepare their own stock of learning materials. Students will be provided with general guidance as to what is expected of them in their module handbook. Topic specific handouts provided in whole group sessions will identify where information may be obtained and further reading. 125 HOURS.
