Module Learning Strategies
The focus of the module is on self-directed study and preparation for a series of seminars on the above topics. The self-directed study is supported by a study guide and VLE (Blackboard) as well as traditional learning materials. The study guide supports the module by providing:
1. An outline of the relevant subject matter.
2. The learning objectives for that particular topic.
3. Learning outcomes for that particular section of the course.
4. Recommended reading.
5. Suggested questions and issues to assist in selection of presentation topic.
The independent study will also focus on the preparation of presentations to be delivered in a seminar setting. The presentations will form the basis of group discussion as well as the end of the module written assignment.
Module Indicative Content
Students will be expected to critically examine the role of environmental law in society and to analyse the relationship between environmental law and current environmental issues. They will also be expected to analyse and explain the relationship between environmental law and current environmental thinking within other disciplines. The module seeks to provide students with a critical understanding of the nature and role of contemporary Environmental Law. Students will study:

1. The history and development of Environmental Law.
2. The development of environmental principles and policy.
3. Climate Change and future developments.
4. The role of the courts and regulation of environmental law.
Module Additional Assessment Details
You will be assessed by an essay, weighted as 75% of your overall assessment (Learning Outcomes 1-6) and an oral presentation weighted as 25% of your overall assessment grade (Learning Outcomes 1-6). The oral presentation is based on your assignment title. You will be asked to present your research findings during the module's final seminar.

During the oral presentation, 10 minutes, you will be assessed against the following criteria:

- Effective communication which demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the subject area
- Ability to respond to questions relating to your research
