Module Indicative Content
Students should have developed a basic skill in the preparation and drafting of a range of documents and should be able to formulate and present a coherent piece of writing based upon facts, general principles and legal authority, in a structured, concise and where appropriate, persuasive manner.
Students should be able to draft documents that:-
- meet the client's goals, carry out the client's instructions and address the client's concerns
- maintain a standard of care which protects the interests of the client
- deal appropriate with client care and professional conduct issues
- accurately address all the relevant legal and factual issues
- where appropriate, identify relevant options, including costs, benefits and risks of those options
- where appropriate, demonstrate a critical use of precedents
- are logically organised
- form a consistent and coherent whole
- follow the rules of grammar
- demonstrate appropriate use of language
- are succinct and precise
- meet any formal legal or other requirements
