Module Indicative Content
The module is designed to provide students with the ability to critically analyse certain essential elements of company law.
Issues covered will include:
- The different mediums within which a business can be conducted
- The doctrine of separate legal personality
- Lifting of the corporate veil
- Constitution of the company
- The legal nature of shares
- Class rights
- Company meetings
Module Learning Strategies
This module will be strongly student centred. It will be delivered through a series of 5 x 2 hour seminars, supported by student research and personal study (135 hours) and there will be an additional five hours of student
guidance, supervision and support.
Students will follow a set pattern contained in the module
handbook.
A formative assessment will be used to encourage research on the subject area.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Oral assessment: Students will be assessed on their individual contributions which will focus on an issue arising from the assignment (Learning Outcomes 1 - 4)
Assignment: Students will submit a 3000 word assignment (Leaning Outcomes 1 - 3)
To pass this module, students must achieve a combined mark of at least 50%
