Module Details
Module Learning Strategies
Under our scheme, the elective subjects are delivered in a 10 week period at the end of the course, comprising 9 weeks of class contact and one week of self-directed study over the Easter vacation. There are approximately 4 hours per week of class contact for each subject made up of one whole group session and one workshop, each of two-hours' duration.
Module Additional Assessment Details
One 2.5 hours open book examination covering all learning outcomes.
Module Indicative Content
The Commercial Law syllabus consists of the following:-

Sale of Goods of Services
Nature and formation of contracts for the sale of goods and services; contractual terms and exclusion clauses; transfer of title, property and risk; retention of title clauses; delivery, acceptance and payment; rights and remedies of the seller and buyer; and dispute resolution.

Agency and Distribution
Nature, types of agreements, creation and formation of agreements; obligations of Principals, Agents and Distributors; Commercial Agents Regulations; remedies and consequences of breach of agreement; European competition policy.

Product Liability
Nature; types of defect; contractual obligations; importers, own branders and distributors; European Regulation; consequences of breach; minimising claims.

Intellectual Property Rights
Copyright; patents; designs; trade marks; and confidentiality agreements.
