Module Learning Strategies
The focus of the module is on self-directed study and preparation for a series of seminars on the above topics. The self-directed study is supported by a study guide and VLE (Blackboard) as well as traditional learning materials. The study guide supports the module by providing:
1. An outline of the relevant subject matter.
2. The learning objectives for that particular topic.
3. Learning outcomes for that particular section of the course.
4. Recommended reading.
5. Suggested questions and issues to assist in selection of presentation topic.
The independent study will also focus on the preparation of presentations to be delivered in a seminar setting. The presentations will form the basis of group discussion and debate.

Module Indicative Content
Students will be expected to critically examine the role of environmental law in society and to analyse the relationship between environmental law and current environmental issues. They will also be expected to analyse and explain the relationship between environmental law and environmental philosophy and politics. The module seeks to provide students with a critical understanding of the nature and role of contemporary Environmental Law in the UK with a specific focus on climate change. Students will study:

1. The history and development of Environmental Law.
2. The development of environmental principles and policy.
3. Climate Change.
4. Climate Change and Renewable Energy.
5. Conservation, Climate Change and Adaptation.
Module Additional Assessment Details
1 x Written Assignment x 3000 words (100%)
Summative Assessment will assess Learning Outcomes 1-6.
The summative assessment will be supported by one piece of formative assessment which will require students to prepare an annotated bibliography relating to resources relevant to assignment research and preparation. The formative assessment will assess Learning Outcomes 3, 5 and 6.
