An extended research proposal, which may consider any field, which contains the following headings:

The Title of the Proposed Research.
A summary of the proposal, focusing on the primary objectives of the research.
The Research Methodology to be employed and a rationale justifying why that methodology is being employed.
A selective bibliography and literature review.

Assessed on a competent/not yet competent basis.

Module Indicative Content
This module will cover the following areas -
1. Assessing sources: primary, secondary, tertiary sources - assessing their validity and reliability.
2. Law as a social institution - possible approaches to the study of law.
3. Law, communication, rhetoric and textual analysis.
4. Legal texts - cases, statutes, reports, thesis, articles.

Module Learning Strategies
This module will be strongly student centred. It will be delivered through a series of 5x2 hour seminars supported by student research and personal study and there will be an additional five hours of student guidance, supervision and support. Students will follow a set pattern contained in the module handbook.
