WEB DESCRIPTOR
A clear understanding of the graduate recruitment market is essential to inform your career plans. In this module you will explore the labour market in detail, looking at the availability or scarcity of jobs, methods of recruitment, and the skills requirements for entry into graduate employment fields of your choice.

Understanding the power of networking and having the confidence to participate in networking activities will open the door to many career opportunities. This module will support your ability to “sell yourself” in a crowded graduate recruitment market so that you gain new work experience, allowing you to hone your knowledge, understanding, skills and behaviours so that you stand out from the crowd.
MODULE LEARNING STRATEGIES
The learning strategy adopts a distance learning approach with provision of a structured and comprehensive bank of VLE-delivered learning materials. Subject themes and concepts will be introduced by the provision of asynchronous recorded sessions, which will be followed with recommended activities, such as reading, participation in online discussions, reflections, watching videos, completion of bitesize online courses, quizzes or presentation development.

Students will be encouraged to engage in peer learning by sharing experiences and discussing themes on online discussion forums. This may be in the form of discussion or sharing of prepared reflections, presentations, images or recordings. This encourages students to articulate their learning and builds confidence, teamworking and presentation skills. Feedback can also be given by Academic Mentors and the Careers team, so that students can benefit from professional feedback.

Through mock assessments, reflection and feedback, students will learn through practice how to present themselves and articulate their skills, knowledge and experience supported by a continual professional development plan.

Students will receive regular feedback from the Module Leader to encourage ongoing engagement, in the form of responses to threads on discussion forums, audio recordings summarising reflections on the weeks’ learning, posts from the Module and Course Leader and individual communications such as emails or Teams chats.
