INDICATIVE CONTENT
Corporate and promotional programming accounts for a large section of moving image production and covers corporate information productions, music promotions and training programmes. The purpose, use, styles and platforms for display can be varied within this sector, which in turn demands a high level of creativity faced with marketing challenges, target audience challenges and the nature of the content that needs to be produced.

In this module you will identify an opportunity to test and expand your learning in a professional context through the completion of a brief to generate a corporate video for a client. You will work closely with this client to identify the fundamental purpose of the film they require, the target audience, key messaging, logistical and creative milestones, as well as how the film will reach its intended audience. You should liaise with the module leader to confirm suitability and practicability of the brief you have identified at an early stage. Should it prove difficult for you to find an appropriate project, your tutor may be able to offer you an in-house or similar brief to fulfil the requirements of the module, but you should bear in mind that the best experiences will be generated by you as they are likely to be more suited to your skills and progression interests.

You are required to have fundamental knowledge of the working practices associated with the genre and also key skills in engaging with diverse business sectors such as: key communication skills in taking the brief, negotiating ideas, presenting in a corporate environment, all these whilst gaining insight and understanding of a company or organisation, their target audience and how they will receive the film.

Working to the client-negotiated brief, you will research, shoot and edit a corporate film of an appropriate length, with form, structure and production values in accordance with client needs and informed by appropriate theoretical frameworks and contextual understanding. The process will include opportunities for the client to give feedback at various stages.

Following completion of the film the client will give constructive criticism and feedback on their experience of the process, as well as the film itself. You will incorporate this into a wider reflection on what you have learnt as a whole, how this fits into your own development as an emerging film maker and what steps you might take next to further develop you learning and employability.

This is a plausible field of moving image production for any graduate seeking employment. The purposes and sub genres of the corporate film means you could be producing films for conferences and seminars, DVDs for staff induction and training, talking head interviews with chief executives, testimonial videos for companies who want to show off their delighted clients online - the list is ever increasing.

In order to produce a successful product for a third party at a professional standard you are required to independently research, study, develop, implement and reflect. This module will help you establish this practice in relation to a live brief, and prepare you for the successful implementation of commissions in the future.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
Learning in this module will begin with an introduction to the requirements of the module and the negotiation of a personal corporate film brief. This will be facilitated through a range of group sessions (i.e. lectures and workshops) and individual tutorials, as follows:
• Research activities including an exploration of existing work via streaming services, DVD, internet, cable and satellite.
• Theoretical and contextual studies workshops
• Technical skills recap activities appropriate to the field
• Transferable skills developmental workshops covering business networking, how to approach prospective clients, deal with client-led briefs and manage professional relationships
• Health and safety recap
• Reflective practice recap

As the module progresses, learning strategies will focus on your development as a professional and will therefore be situated in work-based practice rather than in classroom based learning. Much of your development will be independently driven and supported through regular 1:1 tutorials for creative and technical guidance, progress up-dates and critical evaluative reviews. At this stage your learning will be largely through hand-on practical experience reflective of industry practice and involving activities such as:
• Location work
• Video production
• Project development and presentation workshops
• Summative presentation to audience
• Reflective practice
• Collation of portfolio evidence
