An individual assignment weighted at 50% (Learning Outcomes 1,2)
A 2 hour examination weighted at 50% (Learning Outcomes 1,2,3,4).
Module Indicative Content
Probability rules. Bayes' Theorem.
Univariate and bivariate probability distributions.
Decision making techniques.
Summary measures of statistics (mean, standard deviation, and proportions).
Central Limit Theorem, estimation, confidence intervals.
Concepts of statistical testing - t-tests.
Use of a statistical package.
Module Learning Strategies
Core theoretical material will be delivered through lectures (12 hours), while tutorials and computer laboratory sessions (24 hours) will give opportunities to apply techniques to a variety of practical problems.
