Module Learning Strategies
Students are required to commit to 150 learning hours of which 30 hours will consist of contact time. Typically there will be 12 hours of lectures and 18 hours of tutorial/practical time. Weekly lectures will provide students with a broad overview of the indicative content and the weekly tutorial/practical sessions of 1 hour will allow students to practise the material covered in the lectures through problem solving. The extra 6 hours of tutorial time will be timetabled throughout the 12 week semester on a fortnightly basis from week 2. Learning support material will be provided. Students will have to undertake some independent research.
Module Additional Assessment Details
An individual assignment exploring a variety of experimental designs and performing appropriate analysis for a range of problems. Use of statistical software is also required. (Learning outcomes 2, 3, 4).
An examination weighted at 50% covering the overall content of the module (Learning outcomes 1, 2, 4).

Module Indicative Content
Design and implement experiments involving:
Completely Randomised Designs
Block Designs
Latin Square Designs
Fixed and Random Effects
General ANOVA experiments
Factorial Experiments
Module Special Admissions Requirements
Prior study of CE62000-5 Statistical Inference or equivalent
Module Resources
