Learning on all aspects of the contents will be faciltated via a Virtual Learning Environment.
Practical and analytical assignments using laboratory equipment.
Problem solving and student centred learning.
Module Indicative Content
Statics:, Shear Force & Bending Moment Diagrams, Stress / Strain Relationships, Deflection of Elastic Structures, Bending and Shear Stresses in Beams, Shafts in Torsion, Power Transmission. Dynamics: Undamped Free Vibrations, Viscous Damped Free Vibrations, Kinematics of particles, Energy Methods.
Module Additional Assessment Details
A 2 hour examination weighted at 50% assessing learning outcome 1.
