100% In-course assessed by two case study analyses (each worth 50%)
Assignment 1 1500 words will assess Learning outcomes 1 and 4
Assignment 2 1500 words will assess Learning outcomes 2 and 3
Module Indicative Content
Detailed study of a range of philosophies/methodologies for modern manufacturing.
Basic planning and control methodologies and tools applicable to manufacturing organisations including, demand management, master production, scheduling, capacity planning, manufacturing resource planning, enterprise resource planning, shop floor control and inventory management.
Module Learning Strategies
Lectures (in order to introduce the subject and to guide the student) will be enhanced by the provision of detailed information and sources of information. Students will be encouraged to work in teams in order to analyse the case studies (although the reports will be individualised). This approach will aim to provide the experience necessary to achieve the learning outcomes of the module.
Tutorial sessions, as appropriate, will support the teaching of specific techniques.
