Module Learning Strategies
Information and formative exercises in project planning, with particular emphasis on scheduling and risk assessment, research information sources, referencing and literature review will be provided through Blackboard VLE
An important part of the learning strategy is the direct one-to-one supervision of your project by a mentor on-site and your project supervisor, usually remotely but with some on-site contact. Contact hours would typically be 20 minutes per week.
The majority of your time will be spent in self-managed learning.

Written proposal, project plan and literature survey (All learning outcomes).
Module Indicative Content
This module will enable you to develop academic research and project management skills.
You should be able to identify and agree with your workplace based mentor and academic supervisor, an individual project suitable for your Foundation Degree, based in branch. You will write a project proposal detailing the expected deliverables of the project and produce a realistic project plan, taking into account any relevant constraints on resources, your availability.
Your research skills will be developed. You will be required to undertake a literature survey to establish the context of your chosen project. You will also need to undertake a technical investigation of the project. Some projects may require data gathering (questionnaires) with analysis of the results obtained and questionnaire design would be required. You should critically appraise the results of your research and their impact on your project plan.
You will be required to submit a report detailing the context of the project and the knowledge you have obtained through your research. The report should conform to prescribed standards of referencing.
