Module Learning Strategies
The learning strategy for this module requires students to commit 150 learning hours (including assessment). Of this, there will be 36 hours of class support (24 hours of formal lectures/large group activity, 12 hours of tutorials) and 114 of independent and self-directed study.
Self-tuition through study pack and access to tutor and work based guidance. It is expected that
in-house mentoring will facilitate the learning environment. Additionally you can expect to utilise web based learning, as part of your independent learning.

- Delegation skills
- Assertiveness and anger management
- Managing stress in others
- Interviewing skills, selection, grievance handling, discipline, termination
- Counselling skills in the workplace
- Coaching and mentoring skills, building confidence in others
- Dealing with the media
- Motivation, individuals and groups
Module Additional Assessment Details
A Learning Portfolio which will be based on, and extend the Learning Portfolio of the Personal
Development 1 module. Clear evidence of development on all the learning outcomes will be required.
Evidence of linkage to knowledge gained in People Management 2 will also be sought. 100%
In order to pass the assessment students will have to evidence their personal development, and their reflection on it, through a portfolio that indicates a basic understanding and master of the subject skills.
That portfolio will have to communicate that evidence by an appropriate structure that identifies and focuses on the tasks and key issues relating to the module's material.
