A coursework weighted at 50% which will assess learning outcomes 1, 2 and 3.
An exam (length 2 hours) weighted at 50% which will assess learning outcomes 1, 2 and 3.
Module Indicative Content
- Structure related to properties of Polyamides, Polyacetal, Polycarbonate, Polyphenylene Oxide, Polyphenylene Sulphide, Polysulphones, Polyether Ether Ketones
- Chemistry, properties and application possibilities of thermosetting materials: Polyurethanes, Phenol Formaldehyde, Urea Formaldehyde, Melamine Formaldehyde, Polyesters, Expoxy resins and any derivatives and combinations of the above.
- The inter-realtionship between shear stress, shear strain, shear modulus and Poisson's ratio of long and short fibre reinforcement of polymers.
