Module Indicative Content
- Mathematically model mechanical properties to include pressurised and load bearing situations; creep, stress realxation, shear stress and bending moments, radial and hoop stress. (Applications: load bearing products, hose and belting.)
- Low density and load deflection behaviour (application: rigid and flexible foams).
- Chemical properties: environmental stress cracking, permeability, theories of adhesion (application blow moulded products and adhesives)
- Electrical insulation properties; polar and non polar polymers, conductive materials.
- Electrical, optical and magnetic properties of liquid crystal polymers.
- Non linear stress analysis and transmissibility of rubber to metal vibration mountings.
