Module Indicative Content
The module will introduce students to aspects of Motor sport design, and development of systems and techniques to be able to race competitively whilst minimising environmental impact. Knowledge and understanding will be gained in the use of website authoring software and reflect research into the following areas: -
- Use of advanced materials for minimisation of vehicle mass.
- Tyre technology and minimisation of rolling resistance.
- Feasibility of use of alternative fuel sources.
- Feasibility of use of alternative propulsion system concepts and compare these with conventional systems.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Preparation of a website (10 pages minimum) weighted at 50%. An Assignment length 2500 words weighted at 50%.
Website development - weighting 50% assessing learning outcomes 1, 2, and 3.
Assignment weighting 50% involving a 2500 word written Reflective Journal following an investigation into a statement with respect to Motor sport carbon neutrality assessing learning outcomes 2 and 3.
