INDICATIVE CONTENT
Carry out training or teaching of others on a technical or management issue as appropriate to their specific award and organisation.
As part of the process the student will research teaching and learning theories and apply these in the development of workplace specific teaching/training. Additionally, the student will define learning outcomes and develop relevant teaching and learning strategies. The student will design and develop appropriate teaching and learning activities with content of the training/teaching being appropriate to the job role of the student and the award being studied.
Following the teaching/training event(s), the student will evaluate the teaching/training carried out through feedback from participants, peers and self-evaluation. Additionally, the student will reflect on the delivery, teaching and learning strategies used and the learning outcomes achieved.
ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Course work of length 6500 words weighted at 100% assessing all Learning Outcomes
Coursework assessing all Learning Outcomes.
Reflective report/portfolio that covers:
Research into teaching and learning theories
Development of teaching and learning activities
Evaluation of teaching and learning activities
Reflection on teaching and learning strategies employed
Reflection on the delivery and outcomes of teaching/training
LEARNING STRATEGIES
Induction - 1 hour (group of all students) or 1:1 on site or distance learning
Skype/telephone/email discussions (4 hours @ 20 minutes per week per student maximum)
Distance Learning using the Blackboard VLE.
Use of libraries and on-line research.
This work will be undertaken within a company/organisation and academic support will aid the understanding and development of the learning, reflective theories and strategies. Appointing a mentor to assist with the in company training is not mandatory but often valuable to help with the development of teaching and learning activities.
Feedback from students and or peers will be required for reflection and evaluation.
