Module Additional Assessment Details
Students will be assessed by one theoretical and practical assignment and one examination.

1 x 2 hours exam contributing to 50% of the overall module mark which will assess Learning Outcomes 1, 2 and 3.

Assignment with theoretical and practical parts contributing 50% of the overall module mark which will assess Learning Outcomes 3 and 4.

Satisfactory performance in all elements of assessment is required to pass this module.
Module Indicative Content
This module provides an advanced study of modern digital signal processing (DSP) and some of its major applications including algorithms and architectures:

- Frequency and time analysis of discrete time systems
- Finite Impulse Response (FIR) digital filter design
- Infinite Impulse Response (IIR) digital filter design
- Multi-rate processing and oversampling
- Non-ideal effects
- Mixed analogue-digital signal processing, delta-sigma conversion
- Linear estimation and adaptive filtering
- Coding, Wavelet, Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) algorithms
- 2D/3D processing
- DSP devices and architectures
- Practical DSP implementation
