Module Learning Strategies
A combination of directed tutorials, workshops, role-play and seminars will be used to support the direct contact. A comprehensive directed study package supporting the in-course assessment will provide the basis for the independent study.
Module Indicative Content
Through the use of industrially related case studies students will develop advanced implementation skills within the context of product development within a global market. In particular students will address
- professional specification production
- quality strategies (QFD, house of quality, PMS, vigilance, experiment design)
- the role of integration in product development
- management strategies (six sigma, lean)

Significant attention will be given to the influence of advanced materials and material selection on product development.
Module Additional Assessment Details
100% in-course assessment consisting of 1 element containing 2 parts assessing Learning Outcomes 1 - 4. The first part being a portfolio of work drawn from the directed study. The second part being a single, individual case study that integrates the individual elements considered in the indicative content.
