Module Additional Assessment Details
Summative examination weighted at 100%. Group presentations as assurance of standard met in examination. Formative testing as part of sortie debriefs requiring successful completion of each sortie to move on to the next. Sortie is graded 1-5 (0-Fail, 5-Above average)
Demonstrates achievement of University of Staffs learning outcomes 1, 2, 4 and 6.
Module Special Admissions Requirements
By selection conducted by the RAF
Commissioned Officer in RAF who has completed Phase 1 and Phase 2 training (initial officer plus branch specialist). Selected by the RAF to attend the course.
Module Texts
As specified by RAF Instructional staff ¿ RAF specific with appropriate security classifications.
Module Resources
Library facilities
RAF Instructional staff, support materials and relevant practical equipment.
Access to MoD facilities
RAF simulators, operational aircraft, live and dummy weapons.
The module is delivered entirely by RAF instructional staff.
Module Learning Strategies
Learning will be facilitated via a classroom learning environment plus practical sessions with appropriate aircraft systems and sub-systems. Student centred learning.
Learning will be as pre-briefings and individual preparation for aircraft sorties both in the simulators and in actual aircraft. Learning will be developed in post-sortie de-briefs with instructors and peers. Reflection on learning will form part of the preparation for ensuing sorties.
Visiting lectures by specialists as required.
Students will have access to RAF and MoD materials and appropriate subject matter experts.
