INDICATIVE CONTENT
The purpose of this module is to allow you to take personal responsibility for a major brief, building on the experience of the whole learning programme. This will enable you to apply and consolidate the knowledge, skills and experience you have gained, in the production of a significant body of work to develop themes, storytelling and/or narrative. You will be encouraged to work independently through negotiation with your tutor to research and generate your ideas then apply ways of working to your own Media practice.
As you will be working on an individual project, personal tutorials will be an important aspect of your learning. In order to align ensure a successful and appropriate outcome, you will also take part in discussions regarding the nature and suitability of the proposal and rationale in relation to your desired academic progression route at level 4.
Independent working is considered to be a reflection of your enthusiasm for the subject rather than 'locking yourself in a room and getting on with it'. Ideas should be brought to the tutorial sessions with a view to discussing possibilities rather than a presentation of set-in-stone concepts. Communication is a key part of idea development and you should consult and 'bounce ideas off' tutors and peers through discussions, research and group critiques. This will enable you to critically refine and improve your practice.
This module of study will result in the production of a substantial body of practical work in the area of your choice (Media, Film, Journalism, Creative Writing, reflecting the specialist award to which you intend to progress). Examples of this could include a short film, title credits for a TV show, a short script, a collection of poetry or news articles exploring a theme.
