[Learning Outcomes 1-6] will be continually assessed throughout this module via group seminars, tutorials, formative and sumative crits, final content and presentation work and a holistic final grade and will be awarded. 100% coursework comprising production of ideas book/film/s/programme/s & production files
Module Indicative Content
This module aims to provide you with an opportunity to develop the relevant skills involved in crewing for Level 3 students and `genre-specific' production. You will provide creative/technical crewing for location and studio production and study a specific genre and sub-genre as a means of developing and researching topics of interest. You will produce short film/s/programme/s and a production file covering your crewing experience.
A range of production skills & techniques may be used & developed & the learning experience will involve you extensively in practicing these skills. You will be expected to work individually & in small groups. This module aims to provide you with an opportunity to practice and develop your technical skills in the production of sound and vision. You will practice these relevant skills as a means of developing your professional understanding. You will be encouraged to 'share' previously acquired skills and knowledge with your peers and crew/group and assist in a variety of job roles on the production of level 3 major projects. The aim is preparation for level 3.
Module Learning Strategies
Technical instruction and workshop demonstrations on how to handle equipment, processes and materials safely and effectively. Health & Safety.
Lectures to the whole group where you will be introduced to project briefs, working methods dealing with topics ideas & the preparation for & production of a specific film/programme production. Topics covered will include briefings, scheduling, communicating ideas/concepts to an audience, work ethics & practicalities. Individual & personal belief in concepts & communication of thoughts & ideology.
Small group sessions (seminars, crits, tutorials) where you will contribute to the discussions, engage in debate about issues raised, present the results of your research & your work in progress & receive constructive feedback from your peers and staff when appropriate.
Independent study in support of your project work. You will need to undertake a number of activities when not involved in taught or participation sessions. These will include researching & documenting your practical project; pre-production work for your project; production work for your project & the preparation of your work for assessment.

Specialist computing facilities
Non-specialist computing facilities for email, internet access, word processing, database, spreadsheet and basic presentations will be available through the University's 'Information Services' on-campus facilities - the exception being the 'studio browsers' which are located in base rooms/studios and will provide mainly email and internet access which are provided by the Faculty.
Specialist skills 'modulettes' will be assigned to this module. A comprehensive list of the modulettes is available from the Faculty Office, together with the current operational parameters for the modulettes (instruction description, maximum group size, time allocation, level etc). Some modules will have will have more than one modulette assigned to it and this information will also be held by the Faculty Office.
