This module aims to provide you with an opportunity to develop the relevant skills involved in crewing for Level 6 students and `genre-specific' production work, namely non-fiction starting points. You will provide creative/technical crewing for location and studio production and study a specific genre and sub-genre as a means of developing and researching topics of interest. (Allowing options in the approach and methods of non-fictional genre through the production of either short film documentary, experimental reality or advertising and commercial film for organisations/corporations/charities). You will produce short film/s/programme/s and a production file and evidence of your crewing through digital media.

A range of production skills and techniques may be used and developed and the learning experience will involve you extensively in practicing these skills. You will be expected to work individually and in small groups. This module aims to provide you with an opportunity to practice and develop your technical skills in the production of sound and vision. You will practice these relevant skills as a means of developing your professional understanding. You will be encouraged to 'share' previously acquired skills and knowledge with your peers and crew/group and assist in a variety of job roles on the production of Level 6 major projects. The aim is preparation for level 6.

This module aims to provide you with an understanding of the importance of preproduction, planning and preparation You will be given an overview of different film/programme styles and techniques related to a specific genre. Topics will include understanding/communicating to audiences; the subject and developing an idea; thematic and cine-poem, character and subject documentary, structure and storytelling in film/programme making. There will be a significant number of technical demonstrations and you will further develop your range of production skills and techniques in recording, editing and mixing/post production. You will be expected to crew on productions as well as producing and directing your own film.

100% Course work that includes the following elements:

-Short film production and presentation
-Crewing for Level 6 - digital log (Peer critiques and reflections, analysis and evaluations)
-Pre-Production file
-A4 evaluation of learning experience on module.
