Module Indicative Content
This module aims to provide you with an opportunity to develop the production process skills involved in making a short film/programme. You will be given an overview of the pre-production, production and post-production elements, with particular reference to the importance of ideas development, research, concept/theme and style development, use of character and technical direction. (Allowing options in the approach and methods of fictional genre through the production of either short film drama, experimental narrative or advertising and commercial film). You will be involved in a number of exercises and work individually and in groups on developing your appreciation and understanding of sound recording, sound design and production within your film.
This module aims to provide you with an understanding of the importance of preproduction, planning and preparation You will be given an overview of different film/programme styles and techniques related to a specific genre. Topics will include understanding/communicating to audiences; the subject and developing an idea; cause and effect; characterization and motivation; and conflict and resolution in film/programme making. There will be a significant number of technical demonstrations and you will be introduced to a range of production skills and techniques in recording, editing and mixing, with particular emphasis on importance of audio and postproduction. You will be expected to crew on productions as well as producing and editing your own film.
