Module Indicative Content
This module is intended to explore the relationship between contemporary and professional practice in the field of film, media and society. The main focus will be on studying a range of modern film/media professionals and the ways each can be seen as the products of certain cultural, pedagogical or economic traditions. The module will consider the extent to which they have assimilated and synthesised various pieces of stylistic, theoretical, technological and/or practical information from these traditions in the production of contemporary artifacts.
This module explores the importance of knowing the creative film and media Industry from an historical and contemporary/professional viewpoint. One element of the module is aimed at research and reflection of the Industry and the other is aimed at your current practice and negotiating a position within it. This involves making distinct decisions about your career path, potential job roles, marketing yourself and gaining a foothold, based on the research you undertake and the knowledge you gain.
This module aims to develop your ability to play a role in professional film practice through work experience, crewing, career planning and networking. You will learn how to use external research resources. You will also further develop the IT and social media skills you need for the gathering and presenting of information in an academic and professional context. You will carry out research-based, specialist projects, aimed at producing written and visual findings to present to staff and students.
