Module Learning Strategies
Technical instruction and workshop demonstrations. You will be shown how to handle equipment, processes and materials safely and effectively. Health & Safety.
Lectures to the whole group and small group sessions (seminars, crits, tutorials) identifying 'client liaison', presentation skills, pitching ideas and project proposal development. You will be expected to contribute to the discussions, engage in debate about issues raised, present the results of your research & your work in progress & receive constructive feedback from your peers and staff when appropriate.
Independent study in support of your project work. You will need to undertake a number of activities when not involved in taught or participation sessions. These will include researching & documenting your project & the preparation of your work for assessment.
Module Indicative Content
You will be given the opportunity of working on a series of project proposals for an external brief, which may be in the form of a competition (e.g: D& AD / Kodak National competitions) and/or live brief with industry (e.g: advertising/corporate work for local, National, International companies) The way in which a creative idea is influenced by the external partner's requirements will be considered, as will industrial and/or user constraints together with the meeting of strict deadlines. Supported by market and visual research, you will be required to generate a range of ideas and use creative pre-production methods acquired during previous levels of the course. You will present your final work in a professional manner within the context determined by the client or the competition.
Module Additional Assessment Details
COURSEWORK - ART & DESIGN weighted at 100%. [Learning Outcomes 1-4] will be continually assessed via group seminars, formative crits and a summative assessment based on: 100% coursework comprising a professional presentation; a research file and supporting material in answer to the external client brief.
