Module Indicative Content
Effective midwifery practice: role and responsibilities of the midwife during the puerperium and in the transition to parenthood; family needs, care and management during the puerperium; anatomy and physiology of body organs/systems related to the postnatal period; neonatal anatomy and physiology
Professional, legal and ethical practice: practice in accordance with NMC standards, legal and ethical frameworks related to the puerperium, the neonate and parenthood
Developing the individual midwife and others: multidisciplinary and multi-agency working, role of statutory supervision in provision of postpartum care
Achieving care through evaluation and research: knowledge of research evidence and evidenced based practice relating to the transition to parenthood; Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI)
