Module Indicative Content
Anatomy and physiology: revision of the heart and circulatory system, respiratory system, pancreas, male and female reproductive system

Professional, legal and ethical issues:
NMC documents, the law and legal issues, current ethical issues

Evidence-based practice: models of nursing care; nursing care practices; therapeutic relationships;
diagnostic interventions; tissue viability; administration of medicines; revision of infection control;
common medical disorders seen in women of childbearing age- cause, genetic inheritance, signs, symptoms, care and management; genetics - inheritance, genetic services, communicating genetic information, genetic and other factors in maintaining health, utility and limitations of genetic testing; peri-operative care; wound care; gynaecological conditions - cause, signs, symptoms, care and management, fertility issues; disorders in early pregnancy; sexual health and disease; psychology of illness, death and dying - loss and bereavement, cultural and spiritual needs.
