Formative feedback:
All students will have tutorial support and the opportunity to undertake mock MCQ papers and receive formative feedback following this. In addition, all candidates will have a clinical mentor who will meet regularly with the student to discuss progress
Module Indicative Content
This module will introduce students to knowledge and skills required to enable them to manage the care of a neonate in Special Care. This will include:
Anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of conditions affecting the ill neonate.
Blood glucose, thermal care, neonatal screening, respiratory and airway management, neurological and neonatal abstinence syndrome, fluid balance management, nutrition, breastfeeding, parents and families, skin assessment and care, medicines administration, intravenous medication and administration, admission transfer and discharge, infection, hygiene and infection control, pain, jaundice, cardiovascular, documentation, clinical governance, multidisciplinary team and communication.
