An individual skills-based assignment on the practical and theoretical aspects of research methods

INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module covers different research methodologies. It provides the tools and techniques for completion of the final year investigation. The topics covered are: ideas generation, reviewing and evaluation of literature, research approaches and strategies, access and ethical issues, sampling techniques, secondary data sources, observational and interview research, questionnaire design and development, analysing quantitative and qualitative data and discussion of findings.

LEARNING STRATEGIES
The learning strategy for this module requires you to commit to 150 learning hours (including assessment). The module will incorporate a flexible learning strategy that combine lectures, tutorials, consultation sessions (staff will be available on a regular basis for these). The remaining hours of independent learning time will focus on self-assessment questions (with model answers), appropriate reading and secondary research. Learning support material will be provided for the module. The taught part of this module will take place in the first six weeks of the academic year to enable you to progress with your Investigation.
