You will study the history of musique concrete, electroacoustic composition and computer music.
You will learn techniques of computer sound synthesis using various audio processing packages.
You will develop environments for interactive performance
You will produce a completed piece of computer music.

Assignment 1: COURSEWORK weighted at 50%.

Production and Presentation of a suitable piece of computer music 70% - Assessing Learning Outcomes 1 and 3
Production of a 1500 word report 30% - Assessing Learning Outcomes 2

Assignment 2: COURSEWORK weighted at 50%

Create an interactive performance environment using an appropriate package 60% assessing learning outcome 4
Presentation of the interactive performance environment 40% assessing learning outcome 5

24 weeks x 3 hours per week, mix of lecture and practical sessions (groups of 20)
