Module Indicative Content
The module will cover:
1. The types of UK and European laws which relate to the copyright and intellectual property ownership of music and related media
2. The exploration of different types of contracts and related clauses in order to define copyright of a music or media work
3. Investigating and defining principals of mechanical and performance copyright and reflecting on their effects on digital and physical distribution
4. Designing and developing contracts to provide legal protection for writers, performers, record companies and distributors of music and related media.
Module Additional Assessment Details
100% in course assessement comprising of:-
1. Practical Assignment 50%, assessing Learning Outcome 3.
2. Written Assignment (1,500 words) weighting 50%, assessing Learning Outcomes, 1, 2 and 4.
Module Learning Strategies
2 hour lecture per week for 12 weeks
1 hour tutorial per week for 12 weeks (group of 30)
