Module Learning Strategies
3 hours per week lecture/practical over 12 weeks in groups of 20.
Technical skills instruction. 2 hours in total (groups of 4) to cover signal flow and routing for live use.
Module Indicative Content
Prepare and implement a live performance using computer based tools and associated hardware.
Translating compositional skills into a live environment. This will involve using MIDI, audio and audio effects processing.
Real-time time stretching, granular synthesis and audio warping.
Improvisation methods for use in a live situation.
Module Additional Assessment Details
A coursework weighted at 100% assessing all Learning Outcomes.
Comprising:
Creation and performance of a 20 minute live set centred around computer based technology incorporating room for improvisation and live control with supporting written evaluation (1,500 words) assessing learning outcomes 1, 2 and 3 (100%) (Final assessment)
