100% In course assessment comprising:

A recording or performance of a collaborative popular music composition, a presentation covering the research underpinning its development and documentation covering its creation assessing learning outcomes 1, 2 and 3 (50%).

A multitrack recording of a musical composition showcasing experimental techniques introduced in the module, developmental sketches and evidence* of analysis of existing research and practice assessing learning outcomes 2, 3, 4 and 5 (50%) (Final assessment)

*Students can choose between report, presentation or website.

Writing and creating music is a major part of any music course, and this module aims to give a practice focused overview of the different approaches taken to writing music. Across the course of the module you will hone your skills writing both popular and experimental music. Your work in this module will focus on the practical skills you need to create interesting and innovative music, and put them to the test.
