You will learn to operate a leading industry standard recording, mixing and editing environment at an advanced level. The module will cover:
1. customizing recording environments
2. session management
3. selection techniques
4. automation
5. mixing and finishing a session
Module Learning Strategies
2 hours per week studio based lecture/practical (groups of 9) x 13 weeks
Module Additional Assessment Details

1. Two hour class test (50%) assessing learning outcomes 1 and 2

2. Portfolio:
A ten minute presentation and report 1000 words (50%) of your completed Pro Tools project assessing learning outcome 3

In this module you will build upon your existing knowledge of Avid's Pro Tools systems to develop the core skills necessary to manage and carry out a major project using a Pro Tools HDX system. You will have the opportunity to record, edit and mix your work using a professional standard Pro Tools studio. You will learn how to customise and optimise the Pro Tools environment. You will explore session management. You will develop a repertoire of advanced workflows which will enable you to achieve high quality results quickly and efficiently. You will explore a variety of selection, automation, and mixing and editing techniques to produce work to a very high standard. A thorough understanding of this powerful environment will set you apart from the competition when you are starting out on your career in audio.
