Indicative Content
This module engages the student in techniques and theory used in preserving and enhancing the quality of digital audio recordings. Digital audio systems are investigated from the recording system to final medium. Best practice in producing high quality mastered audio is studied and reflected upon. Students also investigate suitable hardware processors that are used in mastering. The following areas are covered:
1. Audio Processing and Mastering in Stereo and Surround
2. Signal Preservation and restoration in Digital Audio
3. Equipment Specification and system interconnection
4. Music Post Production

Mastering of Audio material assessed by a 40-minute presentation* (100%) assessing Learning Outcomes 1, 2 and 3.

*Presentations will be recorded and archived for review by the external examiner
