Module Special Admissions Requirements
Prior knowledge of Pro Tools up to Digidesign 201 level (MUSI60328 Advanced Pro Tools Techniques, or equivalent)
Module Indicative Content
The objective of the module is to consolidate and develop a professional operator-level understanding and fluency with Pro Tools in a contemporary studio environment. There will therefore be extensive study of techniques and workflows including recording and overdubbing, professional editing techniques, mixing (including advanced surround mixing) and automation, and advanced MIDI. Furthermore, detailed study will be undertaken of session preparation; interaction with other applications using OMF and AAF; interaction with servers and networks; synchronisation with external devices and technologies; delivery formats; and documentation considerations (metadata, EDL).
Module Additional Assessment Details
30% practical exam and 70% in-course assessment (report)
A two hour practical exam (30%) assessing learning outcomes 2 and 3. A 1500 word report (70%) assessing learning outcome 1 documenting the group work undertaken for the module.
The practical exam will take place in the university Pro Tools HD studios.
