Module Indicative Content
This Module examines the historical development of social trends, codes and requirements in the context of the residential interior. The Module will also enable students to create a catalogue of examples of historical styles and to place these styles within a social context.
Module Additional Assessment Details
All elements of assessment must be passed.
1. Historical research and evaluation with written reports and plans and drawings (50%) [Learning Outcome 1]
2. Influences on interior design with mood and sample boards and design journal (50%) [Learning Outcome 2]
The assessments of Domestic Space in Historical Context 1 and 2 will be submitted together.
Module Learning Strategies
Delivery is by distance learning with a comprehensive course handbook, examples of best practice, project templates and telephone and email support being available as necessary through our online VLE, individual and group tutorials, online forums and bulletin boards. Specialist knowledge will be delivered by a diverse team of staff and visiting guest lecturers with a variety of relevant backgrounds and experience. Relevant site visits may be employed at appropriate stages.
