Module Indicative Content
The module provides an introduction to interior design providing the underpinning skills and knowledge leading to the application of these skills. It uses the design process to illustrate different forms of interior design and the broad variety of potential project locations. The work of residential and commercial interior design practitioners is explored and contextual grounding will be provided as well as an overview of the history of interiors, a brief look at current styles and possible future trends.
Students will then apply those skills though exploration of the design process typically used in the production of an interior design scheme. Scale, proportion, colour, texture and lighting will be introduced and enable students to make informed design decisions as they progress through the course.
The Module will allow the student to undertake and complete a one-room interior scheme beginning with documented research and ending with a drawing of the completed interior.
