Module Learning Strategies
Delivery is by distance learning with a comprehensive course handbook, examples of best practice, project templates and telephone and email support being available as necessary through our online VLE, individual and group tutorials, online forums and bulletin boards. Specialist knowledge will be delivered by a diverse team of staff and visiting guest lecturers with a variety of relevant backgrounds and experience. Relevant field trips may be employed at appropriate stages.

Module Indicative Content
Students will be introduced to the range of practical issues, working methods and communication skills that affect, inform and enable the study and practice of interior design. The primary emphasis of the Module is to enable students to begin to develop the attendant skills and techniques employed in the professional practice of interior design and concept development.

Students will critically explore design methodologies and creative thinking acquiring, at foundation level, the skills required to transfer complex design ideas into a clearly articulated interior scheme. Projects will introduce key elements of the design process; form, function, spatial organisation, volumetric design, stakeholder consultancy, aesthetics, decoration, surface treatment, light, and acoustics.
