Module Details
Module Indicative Content
Students will be introduced to the choice of materials and construction methods used within interior design and their impact upon the aesthetic outcomes of a particular scheme as well as acquiring foundation level understanding of the Building Regulations and other relevant regulatory controls. Basic structure and construction technologies relevant to the broad area of interior design, together with an overview of the relevant finishes and materials commonly utilised will also be investigated.

Module Additional Assessment Details
All elements of assessment must be passed.
1. Research, organisational and compliance skills with mood and sample boards and design journal (50%) [Learning Outcome 1]
2. Structures, materials and finishes with mood and sample boards and design journal (50%) [Learning Outcome 2]

The assessments for Design, Technology and Representation 1 and 2 will be submitted together.
Module Learning Strategies
Delivery is by distance learning with a comprehensive course handbook, examples of best practice, project templates and telephone and email support being available as necessary through our online VLE, individual and group tutorials, online forums and bulletin boards. Specialist knowledge will be delivered by a diverse team of staff and visiting guest lecturers with a variety of relevant backgrounds and experience. Relevant site visits may be employed at appropriate stages.
