Module Indicative Content
Students will be introduced to the choice of materials and construction methods used within interior design and their impact upon the aesthetic outcomes of a particular scheme as well as acquiring foundation level understanding of the Building Regulations and other relevant regulatory controls. Basic structure and construction technologies relevant to the broad area of interior design, together with an overview of the relevant finishes and materials commonly utilised will also be investigated.

This Module takes an investigative thematic approach to topical issues such as sustainability and resources, energy consumption, pollution/toxicity, social and health concerns and environmental integration. The Module also addresses the many and often contradictory aspects of eco-design and green issues within interior environments and aims to impart a foundation level understanding of the pertinent technologies which contribute to responsible interior environmental construction, installation and decorative processes.
